Throughout history, many of the “greatest minds” spent their lives questioning certainty, well-being, independence and freedom. They sacrificed their lives and livelihoods for concepts such as democracy, equality, inalienable human rights and freedom in broader strokes; freedom of expression, freedom of association, freedom of worship, freedom of movement and so on. Freedom is born of a total rapture, yet still, it is craving for a neutral space in a grim glass of democratic melancholy. Any freedom suppressed or denied raises questions concerning the aims of government, the grounds of political obligation, the rights of individuals against the state, the basis of sovereignty, the nature of political liberty and social justice.
