A single- Minded Generation by Rex. O. Raymond is an intriguing and diverse book. It holds the readers focus as it drifts from conversations with the authors father and little sister to the core strengths in building a reputable life. To top a notch a poem ‘Whispers of Tomorrow’ at the end conjuring the youths to greatness. This book embarks on self-leadership, self- discipline, Self- mastery and emotional intelligence. At every chapter the reader is invited with a quote that keeps them thirsty to discover what greatness is about to unfold. In every sentence, every word, every paragraph great motivation is procured. The Father, author and her little sister are at a trip with serene beauty  and at every admirable  sight and happy meals. The old timer educates his younglings on the key things to build a good life. The sister asks a question on leadership at a young age and their father enthusiastically answers by bringing out that they are different types of leadership. He says “before you can be a leader you will have to first of all lead yourself”. He follows by saying self-leadership is the simplest but less won form, especially by young individuals. He continues that leadership is not about titles its about using your ability to create more leaders. Its Self-drive, walking through fears, removing mediocrity, turning terrors in triumphs and heartbreaks to heroism and a lot more. He goes through the seven virtues that sculpt a leader that is; Humility, Bravery, Integrity, Politeness and Sincerity as you dive in you will appreciate each virtue for its uniqueness and harmony. This virtues bring out a rhythm I personally call being the bigger guy. There is also a story about a professor and a sailor which perceives that we all have unique capabilities and thinking capacities and cannot be defeated in the mind. What personally spoke to me on a deep level is gratitude and self- discipline as a pessimist this was a game changer. The author establishes that self discipline begins as a habit installation plan and doing something repeatedly. It’s through self discipline that makes habits part of your life. He continues that success is not multiple degrees, great skillets, hard, smart work, rich connection or creative genius. It is the restless forced pursuit of an objective until you manifest your desired outcomes and make them count. He outlines principles to achieve your goals; consistency to purpose and emotional connection.  He also reminds us that there is  a day for us and against us and when its for us we grab the opportunities. When it’s against we stay calm for it shall end. On Gratitude we are to focus on the good things and appreciate them. The author points out in this current era everyone is to formal to see the effort of the next guy. He reminds us how we focus more on negatives and wrongs we fail to see the small things that matter. The author explains that people miss opportunities because of showing no gratitude.  when God gives us bread we should not ask for butter but appreciate the bread and he will provide butter. Reciprocity of gratitude is also important as he delineates.  If someone makes you smile they deserve a smile. Kindness with kindness, love with love, mercy with mercy and lifted also uplift. The book finalizes with an uplifting poem that will make you rise and change your current situation. I highly recommend this book if your looking forward to a new start in 2025. Remember its never too late to start a fresh.
