My passion and 20 years of experience gained from the nine villages of Kibera with the adolescents, crowned by a revelation research on Preventive Collective Youth Violence in Kibera, Nairobi carried at the end of the 2nd Millennium by Rye Barcott was my driving force to write this book. The desire to see maturity, focus, change, safety and collective self-responsibility among the male child was another major factor that made me burn the mid-night oil. This guide is ideal for adolescents in both primary and secondary school and to those who yearn to make a difference in their life. In fact, this book is a significant tool to any person who reads it. It is a companion guide that contains basic character principles, attitudes, skills and knowledge that help adolescents and more so sons to undergo a meaningful school transition to responsible and competent manhood. Upon successful completion of the chapters highlighted in this book, the reader should dream bigger, maintain focus, set smart goals, develop self-responsibility, self-drive, self-motivation and competency. The knowledge and skills shared in this guidebook consequently remain a life-changer and an instant psycho-educative tool for the adolescents. Biblical teachings call us to be responsible. The Bible questions the authenticity of a man who gains the whole world and loses his own life. We have witnessed in the world people who lived luxurious lives but ended up dying very desperately, without having made any significant impact, or being accountable even to their own dependents. A good example is a case here in Kenya whereby a late prominent person was reported to have had a net worth of Ksh100billion, yet when he died, he left behind a disgruntled family. Probably, this was what led to one of his granddaughters succumb to cancer, perhaps due to lack of funds to cater for her medication despite been a descendant of a billionaire. This book is a self-help tool meant to motivate, guide and counsel adolescents to get the best out of their lives amidst the shifting world, hence, becoming extra responsible and remain safe. It contains answers that the young people need to live as expected without confusion and distress.
