Fifteen years after a fateful decision, Mwazandi was forced to abandon the life he once knew, two young women are brought together by chance - and by blood. Raised in different worlds, one in the bustling coastal city of Malindi, the other in a quiet rural village beneath the great baobab tree, they have little in common beyond their shared curiosity about where they truly come from. When their paths cross, secrets long buried begin to surface: a father thought dead, a mother’s sacrifice, a village chief’s quiet wisdom, and a love story marked by betrayal, exile, and rebirth. As the girls piece together the truth, they confront questions of identity, loyalty, and forgiveness. Who was Mwazandi - the ambitious businessman who vanished, or the teacher who rebuilt his life among strangers? And can the wounds of the past heal when hidden truths finally see the light? Divided roots is a story of family torn apart by circumstance yet bound by destiny, of daughters discovering the weight of choices made before their birth, and of how love - though fractured - can bridge even the deepest divides.
